School Uniform

Wearing School Colours Everyday - Pride! 

At St Martin’s CE Primary School we have a school dress code, this is called our school colours and we firmly believe that wearing it everyday instils a sense of pride and belonging.  We aim for our uniform to be comfortable and practical for our daily active sessions and OPAL play,  whilst also being mindful of the financial burden on parents. 

It is requested that parents provide their children with suitable clothes for school, which are in school colours and labelled with their child's name.

School Uniform

The school colours are royal blue, grey, black and white.

School wear for all pupils:

 

  • Sweatshirt/jumper/hoodie – Plain royal blue sweatshirt, jumper, hoodie or cardigan (these do not have to have the school logo)

  • White polo shirt

  • Dark grey or black bottoms - non-branded trousers, joggers, leggings, skirts, shorts (minimum length is mid thigh) are all acceptable.  

  • Plain black suitable footwear or trainers. 

We do not expect any item of school uniform to be of any particular brand, or to show the school logo. School colours can be purchased from most local supermarkets. 

(In summer parents may prefer girls to wear blue and white striped or gingham dresses.)

Please note that in summer months, girls should wear sandals that are secure and will not easily come off in the playground.

All items of uniform should be clearly marked with the child’s name.

PE kit

School colours are still expected on PE days:

  • Plain black P.E. shorts or tracksuit bottoms

  • A plain white short sleeved top.

  • Plimsolls or trainers

  • A school jumper or hoodie

  • Children will wear their PE kits to school on their PE days. 

Football tops, brightly coloured sweatshirts and cropped tops are not allowed. 

Jewellery and make-up

For health and safety reasons jewellery should not be worn at school with the exception of small ‘stud’ style earrings and watches for pupils who wish to wear them.

Makeup, including nail varnish, is not allowed under any circumstances. 

Swimming Kit

Some KS2 classes will need kit for swimming during the year. Swimming kit includes a costume, towel, goggles and swimming hat, where appropriate.

All items should be contained in a clearly named bag.  Swimming kit should be brought to school on swimming days and be taken home, to be laundered, on the same day.

Pre-Loved UNiform 

We do hold a small stock of pre-loved school uniform, which is available free of charge to parents via the school office.
