Well-Being and Safety

Rooted in Christian values, our approach to well-being and safety nurtures the whole person, spiritually, emotionally, physically, and mentally.

Our school vision, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13), inspires every aspect of our well-being provision. It reminds us that through faith, love, and support, every member of our community can overcome challenges, grow in confidence, and shine brightly in all we do.

We are proud to have achieved the Sandwell Well-Being Charter Mark, recognising our commitment to a whole-school approach that places compassion, inclusion, and resilience at the heart of our community.

  • Pupil Well-Being Warriors: Empowering pupil voices across our school to shape a caring and inclusive culture.

  • Safeguarding Champions: trained pupils who are aware of safeguarding concerns and how to report them.

  • Half-Termly Mental Health & Well-Being Focus Days: Supporting emotional literacy, mindfulness and self-care.

  • Pastoral Support Team: Offering nurturing guidance rooted in empathy and Christian compassion, this is delivered in small groups or on a 1:1 basis to meet need.

  • Staff Training: Our staff team are trained to understand ACEs and Trauma-Informed Practice, ensuring a supportive culture for all. Staff use Emotion Coaching and CPI strategies to de-escalate and support children in distress.

  • Named Well-Being Governor: Providing strategic oversight and advocacy for well-being across the school, including parents.

We care deeply about our staff and provide:

  • Workload Management: Reviewing practices to promote balance and reduce unnecessary pressures.

  • Access to Counselling Services: Confidential support for staff well-being.

  • Mental Health First Aiders: Offering a listening ear and guidance.

  • Supportive Leadership: Fostering a culture of openness, trust, and shared responsibility.

Our PSHE and RSE curriculum supports pupils’ personal development and prepares them for life in modern Britain. It is rooted in our Christian ethos and delivered with sensitivity, respect, and age-appropriate guidance.

Pupils learn:

  • How to manage emotions, build resilience, and develop a positive self-image

  • About healthy relationships, consent, and respect for others

  • How to stay safe online and offline, including recognising risks and seeking help

  • About diversity, equality, and the importance of inclusion

  • Basic economic understanding, including money management and decision-making

Our RSE provision is aligned with statutory guidance and reflects our values of love, dignity, and mutual respect. Parents are engaged in the process, and we ensure that all teaching is inclusive and faith-sensitive.
