Christian Ethos

At St Martin’s, personal development is rooted in our Christian vision and values, shaping children into compassionate, confident, and spiritually aware individuals. We nurture the whole child through a rich curriculum and a loving, inclusive community.

Guided by our Christian ethos, we offer:

Faith and Spiritual Growth: Daily collective worship, reflection and opportunities to explore Christian teachings help all children develop a personal sense of faith, purpose, and belonging.

Cultural and Global Awareness: Through the CUSP Big Ideas, the RE and PSHE curriculum and our visiting speakers and family events, pupils learn to respect diverse perspectives, preparing them to be thoughtful global citizens. We take part in local initiatives which address environmental issues, such as Walk to School and recycling.

Celebrating Talents: We recognise and celebrate the unique, God given gifts of every child, whether in art, music, sport, leadership, performance, or academic achievement. Through assemblies, our annual Talent Show, sport and art competitions and classroom praise, we create a culture where talents are nurtured and every child feels proud of who they are and what they can do.

Equality, Inclusion and Celebrating Uniqueness: We actively promote understanding of the nine protected characteristics through our PSHE and RSE curriculum and our themed focus days and visiting speakers,  ensuring children learn about identity, inclusion, and respect.

Our carefully chosen suite of books reflects diverse experiences, cultures, and family structures, helping every child feel seen, valued, and celebrated for who they are.

We foster a culture where differences are embraced and every pupil knows they belong.
