How We Shine Bright
Our school is a community that takes great pride in celebrating the achievements and talents of our pupils both in and beyond the classroom.
From sporting achievements and musical performances to artistic talents, competitions and community activities, we love to share and celebrate the accomplishments of our pupils. Whether representing the school, a local club or pursuing a personal passion, we believe every achievement deserves recognition.
By celebrating these successes, we inspire others, build confidence and highlight the diverse talents that make our school such a vibrant and successful community. We are incredibly proud of our pupils and look forward to sharing the many ways they continue to shine bright throughout the year.
Weekly Praise Worship
Each week, we celebrate a wide range of accomplishments through our praise worship, giving two children from each class a 'Shine Bright' certificate for achievement across the week, these do not have to be academic achievements, they could be for being an excellent role model, or being a good friend.
Alongside achievements in school, we are delighted to celebrate successes from outside of school, including participation and accomplishments in sports clubs, football teams, martial arts, dance, music lessons, drama groups, scouting organisations and many other activities.
MUsic Concerts
Children who have Rock Steady Lessons perform each term to parents and then the whole school. Children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 learn to play clarinets or trumpets, at the end of each block of work we perform to parents. We perform throughout the year, particularly at Harvest, Easter and Christmas time.
Our Annual Talent Show
Each year we hold our St Martin's has Talent Show, where around 20 acts perform an evening show to parents. This is following a round of auditions and rehearsals to make the event really special. From singing to jokes, our children really do have it all!
Young Voices
In January 2026 we took part in Young Voices for the first time, visiting Birmingham Pulse and singing thousands of other children. We loved it so much that we are going again in 2027! Our choir is taught by a professional singing teacher, Megan, who supports the choir through other performances. This year we opened the Tipton Christmas lights switch on, we performed at Murray Hall and at our own Christmas Fair.
Success Story
One of our choir members auditioned and was successful in joining the CBSO Youth Choir, performing in Birmingham's symphony hall!
Sport
We have two football teams, one for boys and one for girls, who play in a school local league. We also took part in the WBA EFL Cup with a mixed team. We have may sporting after school clubs for children to develop their skills and to widen their experience. Our most recent addition is St Martin's Striders, our very own running club, who recently took part in a local 2km Park Run.
Success Stories
One of our St Martin's Striders has become a regular attendee at the Park Run, improving his time week after week!
Many of our football team are members of local football teams, playing in Saturday and Sunday football leagues.
Taking Part in sandwell Events
Eco Summit at Sandwell Council Huuse
This year member of our Eco Warriors visited Sandwell Council house for an Eco-Summit with other school, sharing their views on nature and the environment. They also learnt about different energy sources and how we can use energy more efficiently to help protect the planet.
SHAPE Conference - 2025 and 2026
Members of the School Council from Years 5 and 6 attended the SHAPE conference at West Bromwich Town Hall this year, they took part in a range of workshops exploring Staying Safe, Being Healthy, Achieving and Enjoying and Economic Well-Being. It was an amazing experience and gave us the opportunity to grow in confidence and to meet children from other Sandwell schools.
SIPS Black Country Christmas Sing-a-Long
We joined lots of other Sandwell schools in a special event, where we sang lots of our favourite festive tunes together.
Auntie Duck Sing-a-Long
We were chosen to host this amazing event, launching Sandwell's Auntie Duck's Cleaner Air song! Lots of schools joined online and we enjoyed a special visit from Auntie Duck in person.

Olympic Day
St Martin’s celebrated Olympic Day with a special assembly and by completing a daily mile. During the assembly, children learned about the Olympic values of friendship, respect and excellence, discussing how these important values can be demonstrated both in sport and in everyday school life. To mark the occasion, all pupils took part in our Daily Mile, completing it as a walk together. This provided an opportunity for everyone to enjoy being active, support one another and reflect on the importance of participation, perseverance and healthy lifestyles. It was wonderful to see the children embracing the Olympic spirit and celebrating the positive values that inspire athletes around the world. Well done to everyone who took part!
Mini London Marathon
In April 26 we are took part in the Mini London marathon. This involved a goal of two miles of activity across the week. Thousands of children across the UK took part in this event and we were really proud to have achieved our 2 mile runs.
Wicked Sing-Long
Our young Voices Choir joined a live stream from the O2 in London for a live song a long the cast of Wicked in the West End, a truly memorable event.
Santa Dash
We joined schools across the country in a Santa Dash, we ran around the hall to 'Run Run Reindeer' as part of our mental health and well-being day.
