Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to St Martin’s C of E Primary School. It is an honour and a joy to serve as Headteacher of such a special community.

St Martin’s is more than a school — it is a family. We know one another, we care for one another, and we strive every day to live out our Christian vision and our FRESH values of Friendship, Respect, Empathy, Sharing and Humility.

A St Martin’s child truly stands out. They are happy, confident, hard‑working and kind. They show respect, they support one another, and they approach challenges with resilience and determination. They understand that they can make a positive difference in God’s world, and they are encouraged to shine brightly in all they do.

We have high expectations for every child. We believe in them wholeheartedly, and we never give up on them. We treat our children with the same kindness, dignity and respect that we want them to show others. We help them to achieve great things, academically, personally and spiritually and to grow into thoughtful, responsible and compassionate young people.

Our teaching is rigorous, evidence‑informed and engaging. We offer a rich curriculum that builds strong knowledge and skills, alongside a wide range of enrichment opportunities including clubs, trips, competitions and leadership roles. We are committed to developing the whole child, ensuring they leave us with the confidence, character and curiosity they need to succeed in whatever path they choose.

Partnership with families is central to who we are. A senior leader is always available on the playground at the start and end of the day because we value open, ongoing dialogue. Your thoughts, ideas and feedback matter to us. Our parents, carers, grandparents and wider community know our school well and have so much to  - and we listen.

Most importantly, our children are happy. There is a warmth and a sense of belonging that you can feel as soon as you walk through the door. I felt it myself the first time I visited. St Martin’s is a place where every person belongs, every child is loved equally, and every individual is valued for the unique gifts God has given them.

If you are a prospective parent, I hope our website gives you a flavour of what makes St Martin’s so special. You are warmly invited to come and visit us, we would be delighted to show you around. Please contact the school office to arrange a tour.

We look forward to welcoming you into the St Martin’s family.
