Welcome
A ‘Family’ School
I am incredibly proud to be the headteacher of St Martin’s CE Primary School. As a community, we are a family. We are here for each other, we show kindness and respect to one another and we strive to make a difference in the world.
Excellence is a habit we work hard to ingrain in all of our children. A St Martin’s Child stands out. They are happy, academic, friendly, kind, respectful and resilient. They show excellence pastorally, in the way they interact with peers and adults, and they show excellence academically too.
We have very high expectations of our children. We believe in them. We never, ever give up on them. We treat them with the same kindness and respect that we want them to show others. We help them to do their best in everything, to achieve great things. Excellence is not just a word we use, it is a path we follow.
Teaching is rigourous, evidence-informed and engaging. We offer opportunities for pupils to flourish through enrichment such as clubs, trips, competitions and pupil leadership positions. We develop the whole child so that they have all the skills they need to become a great success in whatever they choose to do.
We are interested in our families’ thoughts. A senior leader will always be outside at the start and end of the day so you can share any feedback, concerns, feelings or just stop and say hello. An ongoing dialogue is important to us so that we continue to improve the school so that it becomes the best that it can be. Our community – parents, carers, grandparents and family – know our school well and have a lot to offer, so we always want to listen.
Most importantly, our children are really happy. We are a close community. There is a very special feeling you get when you walk around the school. In fact, I felt it myself when I first came to look around here, and I still feel it every single day. We are more than just a school; we are a family.
If you are a prospective parent, the website should give you a flavour of what St Martin’s is about. You are, of course, most welcome to come and visit.
I look forward to meeting you.
