Our School Day

  • Our School Day

Our school day is organised in such a way to provide maximum time for learning across a balanced curriculum.

School Day Begins

The school gate opens at 8.45am each morning. Children enter through the main school entrance and will be welcomed by staff members. Children are able to go straight in to school and into class. All children will be warmly greeted by the teachers and support staff within their classroom.

Nursery and Reception: The classroom doors at the front of school

Year 1: The gate on the main road, directly into their classroom

Years 2, 3 and 4:  Playground conservatory

Years 5 and 6: Forest Conservatory.

A member of the Senior Leadership Team will be outside should you need any assistance.

The school gate closes promptly at 8.55am. Any children arriving after 8.55am will be recorded as late.

Breakfast

Each morning the children are able access a breakfast bagel, these are free of charge to parents and are freshly cut each day.

A Flying Start!

Each morning, children will settle quickly and begin their 'flying start' activity for the day.

There will be an activity on the children's desks or the interactive board for the children to complete. These activities focus basic skills that the children need.

Every moment counts and children begin their learning as soon as they enter the classroom.

Mornings

Children take part in a collective worship each day from 9.00am until 9.20am. Worship takes part as a whole school and also within classrooms. Worship is themed around our school vision and values. This is a space for children to worship collectively, learn about current events, celebrate festivals, share learning, sing songs and be reflective.

Each class has their own individual timetable and cover subjects from across the curriculum.

Pupils also enjoy a 15 minute break each morning.

Lunchtime

Children are able to enjoy a packed lunch or a school meal. Full use is made of the playground and facilities. Lunchtime supervisors and sports coaches are trained to support children's play.

Activities such as games, skipping and the gym equipment are available. Older pupils support younger children through our 'Play Leader' programme. They encourage children to play and to demonstrate our school values.

Afternoons

During the afternoons, children continue to learn subjects across our broad curriculum. Children in KS1 enjoy a short comfort break in between lessons.

School Day Ends

Children finish at the following times:

Nursery - 3.25pm from their classroom door at the front of school.

Reception: 3.20 pm from their classroom door at the front of school.

Year 1: 3.20pm from the gate on the main road, directly from classroom

Years 2,3 and 4: will leave through the conservatory door on the playground. Please note year 2 will be dismissed at 3:20pm and then years 3 and 4 at 3:25pm

Year 5: 3.25pm from the Forest Conservatory.

Year 6: 3.25pm From the Main Entrance

The school gates open to our families at 3.15pm.

After School

We provide a range of activities and clubs for children to participate in up to 4:30pm. These clubs are an opportunity for children to explore a hobby, particular interest or a talent.

Clubs are organised by teachers, support staff and external providers, they are changed each half term.
